New highway will connect Kazakhstan and Mongolia

If the Russian side agrees, Kazakhstan and Mongolia will be connected by a new highway that will pass through Russian territory. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to published information, the upcoming construction of a new highway was discussed by representatives of the transport sector of both countries.

Currently, the existing highway “Ust-Kamenogorsk – Rubtsovsk – Barnaul – Tuekta – Mongolian border” has a length of 1,604 km. If the Russian side agrees to build the highway, the route will be optimized to 837 kilometers.

“The construction of the new highway will significantly reduce travel time, improve transport connections between Kazakhstan and Mongolia and will be an important step in strengthening economic and cultural ties.” – the department said in a statement.

Earlier it was reported that an agreement had been reached between the Ministries of Transport of Kazakhstan and Russia on the resumption of international railway communication “Ridder – Novosibirsk”.
