In the province of Panjshir, in northeastern Afghanistan, the foundation stone of the future central prison, which is designed to house thousands of prisoners, was laid. Ariana News reports this.
Governor of Panjshir Mohammad Agha Hakim He said at the ceremony that the prison will be built on 11 acres of land valued at 12.9 million Afghanis in the Baharak district of the provincial capital of Bazarak. The prison’s boundary walls, security towers and water supply system will be built first, with the rest of the facilities to be completed next year.
Panjshir is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan with a population of approximately 173 thousand people. 98.9% of the population are Tajiks.
