New wave of explosions rocks several cities in Lebanon

Lebanon suffered a new wave of explosions on Wednesday that appear to have been directed at walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members, according to a source from the group cited by The Guardian.

The incident comes just a day after the first coordinated attack on thousands of Hezbollah members by detonating their pagers, which appear to have been rigged before they arrived in Lebanon. Tuesday’s attack left 12 dead and nearly 3,000 injured. Israel, as is customary for such actions, has not claimed responsibility for the operation, but all eyes are on Tel Aviv.

The explosions occurred in several suburbs of Beirut, as well as in the cities of Nabatieh, Tyre and Saida in the south of the country.

Reuters said the devices that exploded on Wednesday were portable radios, according to a security source. The agency said at least one of the explosions occurred near the funeral organized by Hezbollah for those killed on Tuesday.
