Newly elected Supreme Court judges sworn in

On October 9, 2024, the next session of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held.

Oku.Az informs that this was reported by the Press Service of the Supreme Court.

It was reported that Ilgar Jafarov, Sarvar Valiyev and Gasim Aliyev, appointed to the Shirvan Court of Appeal, were invited to the swearing-in ceremony. In accordance with the requirements of the Law “On Courts and Judges”, they swore that they will administer justice in full accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan, impartially and fairly, preserve the independence and dignity of the judge. and they will act in a spirit of respect for the name of the supreme judge.

The newly appointed judges were given a special judge’s uniform.

Chief Justice Inam Karimov congratulated the new judges and wished them success in their future activities.

Next, the Plenary considered the draft extension and amendment of Decision No. 3 of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan of December 12, 2002 “On judicial practice in cases of intentional homicide”, as well as other decisions that must be adapted to the changes introduced in the legislation.

It was decided to expand and amend Decision No. 4 of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan of April 10, 2015 “On the judicial relevance of disputes arising from administrative and civil law relations.”

At the same time, the composition of the judicial chambers of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the composition of judicial chambers for the review of newly opened cases and additional cassation procedures for judicial acts, and a combination of judges came into force included in the civil, commercial and administrative chambers for appeals on disputes of judicial relevance in the court of cassation. The composition of the court was reorganized.

Subsequently, the draft Decision of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the composition of the editorial board of the Bulletin of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was discussed and the corresponding decision was adopted.

Specific cases were also discussed at the meeting.
