THE organizations Burgos Acoge, Atalaya Intercultural, Accem and Cáritas, who work with migrants, have called for a rally for this Wednesday, November 12, to demonstrate their rejection of the exclusion of some of them from the municipal budget.
The demonstration will take place at 8:00 p.m. in the Plaza Mayor with the motto “Burgos for coexistence”, as reported by the organizing organizations, who thus intend to denounce that the Consistory accounts for 2025 do not include Burgos Acoge, Accem and Watchtower. . This exclusion is due to a request from Vox in the negotiation to execute budgets.
The municipality intended to renew the agreement with Caritas, but the organization refused to sign with the municipality the extension of the agreement until an agreement was reached to include the rest of the excluded NGOs in the municipality budget for 2025. Vox asks in the negotiation to bring forward the accounts for next year.
The diocesan delegate, Mario Vivanco, declared yesterday that the work carried out by the entities which care for vulnerable migrants “is essential” and expressed specific support for Burgos Acoge, Accem and Atalayawith whom Caritas works “on a regular basis”.
For Cáritas, the reception, promotion and protection of migrants “contribute to a fairer and more fraternal society” and guarantee that, following the evangelical principles that guide its actions, it cares “equally for all people in the need,” reports Ep.
For her part, the spokesperson for third sector organizations, Nuria Revilla, declared that the measure is very “drastic for the city and for municipal social services”, while affirming that the data from municipal technical reports “corroborate the work that these entities do.
The socialist leader Luis Tudanca also raised the issue, regretting that his mayor, Cristina Ayala, is capable of “selling the mayor’s presidency to attack the rights of immigrants.” Likewise, he highlighted the “courage” of Caritas, which received a contribution in the Burgos budgets, for having renounced it, “giving the example that fundamental rights are far above money”.
Likewise, the organizations met with the government team to demand the cancellation of the decision to withdraw the agreements and Caritas, which was the sole beneficiary, renounced the agreement until the City Hall also signed with the three other entities.
