There are no large mining operations in Abkhazia, said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Transport Jansukh Nanba.
According to him, a stress test carried out by Chernomorenergo in the first half of 2024 showed that miners in Abkhazia consume between 40 and 45 megawatts.
“Cryptocurrency mining still exists in the republic, but the most important thing is that there are no large mining farms that have caused the most serious damage.” – said Nanba on AGTRK.
Cryptocurrency mining is prohibited by law due to energy shortages in Abkhazia. However, law enforcement officers periodically seize mining equipment on the Russian-Abkhaz border and confiscate it on farms in the republic.
