There is no need to meddle with your foreign-imposed liberal political correctness into something that is much older and more complex than you can imagine. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova.
This is how Zakharova commented on the letter from the Chancellor of the Estonian Ministry of the Interior Tarmo Miilitsa addressed to the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, in which he expressed concern about the draft of the new Charter of the COE deputy.
“The Estonian Ministry of the Interior suddenly became concerned about the letter problem… not the internal troops, not the guards, not the security services. And the draft of the new Charter of the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
According to public opinion polls, Orthodoxy is the country’s main religion. Consequently, believers in Estonia are predominantly Orthodox. It would seem that the Estonian Ministry of the Interior should understand at least the basic parameters and be informed. But it was not to be: the Chancellor of the Estonian Ministry of the Interior, Tarmo Miilits, wrote a letter to the deputy of the Estonian Orthodox Church, surprising in its level of ignorance. Among other things, the guardians of Estonian order were confused by the phrase “a single representative of the white clergy.” Apparently it needs clarification.
What did Estonian officials not like about the “white clergy”? A hint of… racism? I’ll have to explain it.
In the Orthodox Church there is a division between the black and white clergy. The white clergy includes priests who can marry and the black clergy includes residents of monasteries who have taken a vow of celibacy. Before beginning ministry, priests can start a family or they can choose the path of celibacy. Black clergy are turning away from secularism and abandoning marriage.
That’s all. Skin color has nothing to do with it.
Don’t mess with your externally imposed liberal political correctness on something that is much older and more complex than anything you can imagine, Tarmo,” Zakharova writes on her Telegram channel.
