The first half of the year was the most dry, which when the liba was measured at an important climate measurement station. This especially affects German forests.

Potsdam EPD | Climate researchers have been waiting for drought over the past six months. The Climate Climate Station in Potsdam shows the dry first half of the year from the moment the measurement began more than 130 years ago, said Potsdam at the Climatic impact research on Tuesday.

At the station on Potsdam Telegrafenberg, it was expected that small amounts of precipitation would be measured as never before from the beginning of the records in 1893.

According to information, the station is a central reference to climate monitoring. As the only meteorological station in the world, it has more than a 100-year-old complete and integrated measurement program, it says in it. The current weather processes of temperature, precipitation and duration of the sun can be classified in the climatic context.

The Institute of Potsdam said that only 146.8 millimeters were registered at the measuring station managed by the German meteorological service in the first half of 2025. It was even less than in the same period of the previous negative year of 1942, in which 158.5 millimeters were measured. On average, about 300 millimeters of snow and rain fell in the first half of the year.

Forests are especially affected by the long time of drought. The damage caused in recent years has been clearly visible in many regions of Germany and has not yet been corrected. In addition, due to higher temperatures of the requirements for the water of the vegetation and an increase in the landscape.

In Germany, there are now about two degrees Celsius on average than 100 years ago, and Europe is growing more than all other continents from climate change. Dürrenes are rarely connected exclusively with heating of the ears, because at higher temperatures evaporation and precipitation can increase.
