Jesus would still have one year to reach 65, “but we decided it would be now. Due to circumstances and We had the opportunity to make a transfer with a very competent couple with a lot of desire and enthusiasm. and that is why we put it forward. It is not easy to find substitutes. “It is very hard work that requires dedication, effort and hours.”

He explains the hours they devoted to running the fruit shop: “We worked from five in the morning to two in the afternoon. A stop of an hour and a half to eat and again from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. In summer, we only closed for two weeks and with a lot of fear, if the activity stabilized, and nothing more. »

The business remains profitable: “It continues to sell well, but don’t think it’s easy. You have to devote time to it. We raised a family and lived with dignity. The children, aged 37 and 28, have seen the slavery of their parents and do not want to continue like this.”

It hasn’t been easy to explain it to customers: “They tell us not to leave. Finally, they understand it because it’s been many years. It makes them very sad. The other day, several ladies had tears in their eyes but deep down they understand.”indicates Jesus.

Regarding the future, once retired, they emphasize: “For the moment, we are not going to do anything. Change the chip. Forget the schedules, which will be difficult”, and you will have to look for an activity because the day is very long, your head is spinning a lot and you need to keep it busy.

The new owner of the fruit shop is Afzaal Ahmed, 43-year-old Pakistani: “I really want to work. I have been in Pamplona for six years and I am very happy. I like this type of work. They introduced us to clients. Nuria and Jesús are very good people. Very good people. We see a future for the store.”
