The President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, will hand over to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, this Friday, during the meeting that they will both hold in La Moncloa, a document with “56 reasons why the Valencian Community can no longer wait”.
In the ninety pages of this “Proposal for the framework of dialogue” between the two executives, consulted by ABC, appear measures in the areas of social services, health, industry, justice, infrastructure or even agriculture.
The main demand of the Valencian executive to Sánchez, in the middle of the series of meetings with regional presidents, is the “urgent” reform of the financing system expired since 2014 to make it “more just, equitable and egalitarian”.
The Valencian Community is “the region most affected by this underfinancing accumulated for more than two decades” and has been forced to “resort to debt” to cover this deficit and be able to “assume basic services”, indicates the document.
The reform, he indicates, must be negotiated multilaterally at the Conference of Presidents and the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council. In the meantime, the Consell demands the “immediate” application of a transitional leveling fund: an additional 1.782 million euros in the next four years to reach the average of the rest of the communities. In addition, he emphasizes that he will demand the same treatment as the other autonomy – in reference to Catalonia – if their debt is canceled.
During the control session held this Wednesday in the Valencian Parliament, Carlos Mazón again criticized the “betrayal” of the PSPV for refusing to support the request for this leveling fund, an issue that led to the meeting of the Per platform Fair Funding. Last Friday ended without an agreement.
He also refused to allow the document to be sent to the CCOO and UGT unions as well as to the CEV employers’ association so that make “your contributions”– be a “little piece of paper”, as Compromís criticizes. After this plenary session, Mazón met with the mediators of the two parties and Vox to inform them of the issues that he will bring to Moncloa.
To the usual requests for reduction of the Tajo-Segura transfer or the water contributions of the Albufera of Valencia, the Generalitat adds the need to receive more resources from the central government to take care of minors in care.
Concretely, he is demanding an additional six million euros for the “real” cost of his coffers. reception of unaccompanied minor migrants who arrive in the region as if they were quota adults from the Canary Islands. According to their figures, in 2024, 85 people were classified as adults, when in reality they were adolescents.
The PP executive also demands more funding to alleviate the workload of the courts and the implementation of the RED mechanism for the automotive sector. Moreover, this once again touches on a historical conflict: the return of the Lady of Elche to the city of Elche. The Valencian Executive requests that the technical reports that reject the loan be made public in order to correct the drawbacks and guarantee its conservation.
