The month of September, which the Brotherhood of La Merced lives with intensity from beginning to end, faces its most special day with the feast of the Virgin, this Tuesday. Throughout the day, Santa María de la Merced will remain on display kiss the solemn hand inside his parish, San Antonio de Padua, and the main ceremony is scheduled for 9:00 p.m.
The cults were marked by several firstsAmong them, a canopy of worship in the form of a curtain, which is inspired by the models of Fray Ricardo de Córdoba, with a design by Antonio Villar and Rafael Barón.
The piece, executed in Antonio Villar’s embroidery workshop, responds to the style neo-baroque classicembroidered on burgundy velvet in mixed technique, with a wealth of sequins, pearls and bonnets, according to the description provided by the brotherhood.
HAS three central fallswith rings in the lower parts. The main motif is a central cartouche with a crown in which are represented the anagram of Mary for the Virgin and the initials of JHS, for the Lord, according to the evolution of the cults of one or the other holder. The rest is exorno floral and vegetaland the whole thing is finished with fringes and beaded pom poms.

Furthermore, at the end of the second day of the triduum, three gifts offered by the Friars of Mercy for the Virgin’s trousseau were announced and blessed.
It’s a headdress gold lamé and Chantilly lace, donated by Borja Navarro; and a white gold-plated sterling silver rosary set with zircons and semi-precious rubies, natural freshwater pearls.
The design highlights the Ave Maria which houses the Mercedarian shield, while the ruby cross set in the center features the crown of thorns in gold on a Japanese pearl.
The rosary It was made by the Lezque jewelry workshop in Córdoba and donated by the Rabanillo-Esquinas family. In addition, an anonymous donor offers a costume that, together with the board he already wears, will be one of his most characteristic garments, the Mercedarian habit.
The set consisting of the skirt and the view coat was made on silver fabric from 19th century embroideries restored and enriched with traditional embroidery art techniques by the workshop of the Virgin’s trainer, Antonio Villar.
Numerous cultural events, accompanied by proclamations and congratulations, have taken place this month around the Virgin of Mercy. All will culminate on Sunday, September 29 with the dawn rosary through the streets to the convent of San Cayetano.
