Official Baku exposed Pashinyan’s lies

It is regrettable that the Prime Minister of Armenia once again made a series of statements at the press conference on August 31 that contradict the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process and efforts to ensure peace and security in the region.

Oku.Az According to the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aykhan Hajizade, commenting on the views expressed by the Prime Minister of Armenia against Azerbaijan at the press conference on August 31:

“The allegations that there are territorial claims against Armenia in the Constitutional Law of Azerbaijan are completely false. The attempt to create parallelism and equality between the Constitution of Azerbaijan and the Constitution of Armenia in this matter is unacceptable. This argument of Armenia is not accepted by any international partner and everyone knows that it is frivolous. Armenia Unlike the Constitution of Azerbaijan, there are no territorial claims against Armenia in the Constitutional Law on State Independence of 1991 and the Declaration of Independence of 1918 are historical facts and these facts cannot be denied. “This does not mean that there are currently territorial claims against Armenia in the legislation of Azerbaijan.”

He said that the Armenian side’s statement in the draft peace agreement that “no party can invoke its internal legislation for failure to fulfill its obligations under the peace agreement” and that the territorial claim contained in the Constitution of this country is harmless is completely unreasonable:

“We note once again that it is a well-known fact that no international agreement is superior to the Constitution. Therefore, in whatever form the Armenian side intends to sign the draft “peace agreement”, in order to sign a real and lasting peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the main condition is the cessation of ongoing territorial claims against Azerbaijan, which are set out in numerous legal and political documents of the country, and the Armenian Constitution clearly refers to the “unification of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.” First of all, let us note that it is Armenia that has been occupying Azerbaijan’s territories for almost 30 years, contrary to the norms and principles of international law, the UN Charter and the Alma-Ata Declaration, taking into account “Taking into account the existence of territorial claims against its neighbors, it is not difficult to understand how Armenia’s armament is a threat to regional peace and security.”

“The Armenian side’s statement that Azerbaijan’s military budget accounts for 14-15% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), which is much more than that of Armenia, completely contradicts the information disseminated by relevant international organizations on the military budget, and this figure is repeatedly exaggerated, the increase in Armenia’s military spending by 46% compared to last year is another indicator proving Armenia’s militarization. In addition, the Prime Minister’s claim that Azerbaijan allegedly purchased weapons from Italy does not reflect the truth,” he said.

Aykhan Hajizadeh also said that if one analyzes the Prime Minister’s position regarding the Minsk Group, one can clearly see that the attempts of the Armenian side to restore the Minsk Group, which is a remnant of the past conflict, prove that this country has a hidden agenda against Azerbaijan:

“The Armenian Prime Minister’s logic that these problems can be ignored shows that this country is not interested in lasting peace and is only trying to maintain this situation as a fallback option to start aggression against Azerbaijan again in the future.”

“To prove that Armenia is serious about the peace process, it must refrain from contradictory statements and provocative steps, and demonstrate that it respects the norms and principles of international law with its actual actions and steps,” he said.
