On November 9, the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholtz, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev called.
AZERTAC reports that during the telephone conversation, Chancellor Olaf Scholtz regretted that due to the political situation in Germany he will not be able to participate in the leaders’ summit of the COP29 conference organized by Azerbaijan. Chancellor Olaf Scholtz highlighted the importance of the success of the COP29 climate conference and said that Germany will provide the necessary support to achieve the new financial goal.
The head of state highlighted Azerbaijan’s objectives as the host country and president of COP29 and emphasized that it is trying to build bridges between the parties and provides a convenient platform to conduct result-oriented discussions.
Chancellor Olaf Scholtz noted that Germany supports the establishment of peace and friendly and neighborly relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and said that his country called on the parties to take bold measures in this regard.
President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is the initiator of the peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the principles that form its basis, and said that Armenia’s territorial claims against our country still remain on the constitutional basis. The head of state recalled that Armenia’s considerable delay in its proposals on the text of the document had a negative impact on the process, but despite this he stressed that the parties are close to reaching a final agreement on the text of the document and that Negotiations will continue after the end of the COP.
