The disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) decided, on Wednesday, November 27, to close for a match of “the space reserved for the Lyon 1950 group” at the Groupama stadium following the incidents that occurred during the derby between Olympique Lyonnais (OL) and AS Saint-Etienne on November 10. This sanction comes into effect immediately, states the LFP press release.
If the authorities did not notice during the match, a homophobic chant directed against the Stéphanois was reported on X at the end of the match by the Rouge Direct collective, which fights against homophobia in football. The match was also suspended for five minutes due to smoke bombs thrown by fans.
Furthermore, in relation to the projectile thrown at DAZN journalist Ambre Godillon during the match between Olympique de Marseille (OM) and AJ Auxerre on November 8, the LFP disciplinary committee decided “a match suspended behind closed doors at the Stade Vélodrome”. Shortly before half-time of this match, lost by the Marseilles (1-3), Ambre Godillon, former PSG-TV presenter, was the victim of a projectile that hit her under the eye. OM apologized to both the journalist and DAZN.
