In an interview with French newspaper Le Figaro, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sharply criticized French President Emmanuel Macron amid worsening diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The reason for the criticism was Macron’s calls to impose an arms embargo on Israel, as well as his statement that “Netanyahu must remember that Israel was created by a UN decision.” Responding to Emmanuel Macron’s announcement of an arms embargo, Benjamin Netanyahu called the initiative “shameful.”
He stressed that “France must support Israel.”
Netanyahu also expressed hope that France’s position will be reconsidered, stressing: “I hope that France will change its approach so that we can cooperate to restore stability.” He pointed out that confronting terrorist organizations is at the same time protecting the values common to Europe and Israel.
Previously, Cursor wrote that Defense Minister Yoav Galant called the latest ban imposed by France on Israel’s participation in a naval weapons display “shameful.” Israeli companies will not be able to participate in the Euronaval exhibition, which will take place in this country from November 4 to 7.
