On September 13, the Central Bank of Russia made a decision on the key interest rate.

At the meeting of the Bank of Russia on September 13, it was decided to raise the interest rate again, which is now 19% per annum. This is the absolute maximum since the beginning of April 2022, when the key rate was 20%.

Since the end of 2023, the Russian regulator has kept the rate at 16%, but then decided to raise it amid accelerating inflation and inflated inflation expectations.

“On September 13, 2024, the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia decided to increase the key rate by 100 bp to 19.00% per annum.” – says the official decision of the regulator.

EADaily Remember that experts expected, if not a reduction, at least to keep the key rate at 18%. The reason was clear signals from the national economy to reduce inflation and increase credit activity.
