Organized by the COP29 Presidency, the Green Zone, which also includes community participation, green transition, technological solutions and global cooperation, opened its doors to visitors on the first day of the international climate conference and presented the first edition of the series of events that will take place during the conference. It was reported that COP29 climate action initiatives were discussed at this event, which brought together stakeholders on the topic “Towards net zero carbon emissions: COP29 partnerships for a sustainable future.” Ayan Najaf, member of the Coordinating Council of COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, Marina Olshanskaya, sustainability consultant of COP29 with international experience in climate change and green financing, Sabit Zeyniyev, vice-chairman of the board of directors of “Tamiz Shaher” OJSC, with extensive work Electrical and electronic manufacturing industry experience expert Rustam Gasimov, New Zealand philanthropist and carbon markets expert Dave Rose at the discussion session on proper carbon management waste, recovery Important topics such as sustainable energy solutions, environmentally friendly technologies and reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions were discussed.
During the event, the audience was informed about joint efforts to develop and implement sustainability initiatives, and heard discussions on how to support the positioning of COP29 as a benchmark sustainable event that uses greener and more sustainable resources efficiently.
It should be noted that on the first day of the COP29 conference, debates and seminars will be held on the protection of biodiversity, innovations in the field of renewable energy, intergenerational cooperation in the fight for climate justice and sustainability, the decisive role of higher education in the fight against climate change and other similar topics were carried out simultaneously by different companies accompanied by performances and interactive sessions organized in the dynamic “Extreme Hangout” area and activities in the pavilion areas of the Green Zone in general.
Events in different formats are planned to be held in the COP29 Green Zone in the coming days. Thus, until November 22, discussion panels on various topics will be organized in the format of cooperation with the official partners of COP29; prominent experts and recognized figures in the field of climate and sustainability will participate in these events.
