On October 3, passengers fell onto the train tracks at the “28 May” and “Ulduz” metro stations, which once again raised the issue of safety in the “Baku Metro.”
This is the fifth incident of this type on the subway during 2024.
Passengers said barriers should be installed on platforms to ensure their safety:
“In addition, passengers have to be let in one by one. The subway is crowded, people push each other. In these cases danger arises, and it is even more dangerous for small children.”
According to security expert Elmar Nuraliyev, it is important to install protective doors at stations to protect against such situations. In this case, only after the arrival of the train, the doors are opened and passengers enter from the platform:
“If someone is careless or has a health problem, the number of cases of fainting and falling on train tracks will be reduced to zero.”
“Baku Metropolitan” highlighted that, first of all, it is mandatory to reinforce the station platforms: “The glass or platform doors become a system that obstructs the flow of air. That is why it is important to reorganize and evaluate the system of ventilation”.
