On Tuesday October 1st at 7:00 p.m. we will discuss the critical housing situation in Spain.

He Tuesday October 1 at 7:00 p.m.we will hold an exclusive meeting with our partners in the editorial staff of elDiario.es in Madrid during which we will talk about the current situation of access to housing in Spain and the alternatives that could change the current panorama.

Under the title, “Housing: future and solutions”we will analyze the keys to solving a problem that already affects six out of ten people in Spain. We will discover innovative initiatives that are already successful in other countries and we will delve into the solutions in terms of social policy, economic policy or urban plans that must be taken to safeguard a right as fundamental as the right to housing.

Precarious wages and skyrocketing prices, or rather crazy prices. It is the perfect cocktail which has boosted access to decent housing for a very significant part of the population. Forty years ago, Spanish families spent on average 15% of their income on housing. Today it is 31.8% and it increases more every year.

We analyzed all these questions during a debate moderated by Gumersindo Lafuente, journalist and editor-in-chief of the magazine elDiario.es, together with Carme Trilla Bellart, economist and president of the Observatori Metropolità de l’Habitatge de Barcelona and of the Fundació Hàbiat3; Jorge Dioni, writer and author of The Spain of swimming pools And The hustle and bustle of the cities; Alexandro Inurrieta, doctor in economics, housing specialist; And Valerie Racuactivist of the Tenants’ Union. In addition, Trilla, Dioni and Inurrieta are three collaborating firms in the latest issue of the magazine elDiario.es “Vivenda: errors of an announced failure”. A special that focuses on the second most serious social problem that exists in Spain, after climate change.
