Onda Polígono denounces that the Toledo City Council censored the recording of a podcast

The cultural association Polygon wave denounced that the Toledo Government team did not authorize the live recording of a podcast made by the program “Enemy roads”, in collaboration with the Toledo Platform for Palestine, entitled “Boycott and Resistance to Israel”. Don’t buy the genocide. They consider the non-authorization as “an act of censorship” and an attitude “typical of totalitarian forms of government.”

This podcast was going to be recorded as part of the programming of the festivities that the neighborhood association ‘The Cava’, celebrated every year in the San Martín neighborhood, in the historic center.

According to Onda Polígono, the Local Government Council of September 10 authorized the realization of all the activities proposed by the neighborhood association in the programming of its festivities, with the exception of the recording of this podcast.

“The Local Government Council excludes this activity from authorization because it was aware that the content of the activity, according to its title, ‘Podcast of the enemy roads: “Boycott and resistance to Israel. Do not buy the genocide. Toledo Platform for Palestine” is likely to incur the type of crime provided for in article 510.1 a) of the Penal Code.

“From the cultural association Polygon wavethe station to which the program ‘Rutas Enemigas’ belongs, we consider this exclusion as an act of censorship and also as a prejudice, since without knowing the content of the program, it cannot be assumed that it directly or indirectly encourages, promotes or incites hatred, hostility, discrimination or violence against a group, as provided for in the aforementioned article of the Penal Code.

“Furthermore, we consider that restricts freedom of expressionfor having prevented an act where an event as terrible as a war was going to be analyzed from the citizen’s point of view,” they added from said association, which “deeply” regrets that the Toledo government team takes decisions of this type on spaces for opinion and debate, whatever the subject to be discussed, “thus demonstrating an attitude typical of totalitarian forms of government.”
