One of the people accused of attacking the house of Paul Rigo in the Majorcan town of Porreres in 2018, who is being tried by the Palma Court for these events, spent this Monday morning at the disposal of the court on duty after Saturday was arrested for allegedly attacking a man over a debt.
This was stated by the presiding judge at the start of the hearing, which was due to resume at 10:00 a.m. and was interrupted until, predictably, 12:00 p.m.
At that time, the judge emphasized, it is expected that the president of the Court of Instruction number 1 of Palma, who is on duty this morning, will have determined whether the man will be released or whether he will be placed in temporary prison for the attack.
In the first case, the man must go to the Palma court to continue the trial. In the second, he will be transferred by agents of the National Police to the judicial headquarters.
The procedure, recalled the magistrate, cannot under any circumstances continue without the presence of one of the accused. Due to this delay, this Monday’s hearing is scheduled to be held in the morning and afternoon shifts.
The attacker was arrested this weekend with five other people as alleged perpetrators of the attack suffered by a man on Saturday around 12:50 a.m. in a squatted house in the Soledad neighborhood.
According to sources close to the investigation, the suspects summoned the victim to the aforementioned address to demand the money he supposedly owed and, when he did not respond to their demands, they tied him up and beaten.
The victim began to cry for help and National Police officers were heard, who arrested four people – among them, the accused of the theft at Pau Rigo – and transferred the injured person to the University Hospital of His Espases for a fracture to the face.
Officers from the provincial judicial police brigade took charge of the investigation into the events and arrested two other suspects a few hours later.
