One of seven Franciscan monks brutally attacked at Holy Spirit Monastery in Gilet has died

The 76-year-old monk, who is in very serious condition at the Valencia clinical hospital after being attacked this Saturday in his congregation in Holy Spirit of Mont Gilet (Valencia) with six other religious diedaccording to health sources.

The attack happened on Saturday morning, when the attacker – who will appear in court tomorrow Tuesday – entered the premises and reached the rooms on one of the upper floors and, as others explained religious witnesses of what happened, attacked seven of them with sticks and a bottle while shouting “I am Jesus Christ and I am going to kill the brothers.”

The Emergency Information and Coordination Center of the Valencian Generalitat received a notice at 10 a.m. on Saturday indicating that health structures had provided assistance to a 76-year-old man. due to head traumawho was transferred to the clinical hospital.

Sources from the Archdiocese of Valencia initially confirmed the death of the cleric, but the Civil Guard reported that the monk was still alive at the Valencia Clinical Hospital in very serious condition until Monday, sources from the Ministry of Health reported his death.

Another injured monk, 95 years oldwas transferred from the Sagunto hospital to the clinic and this Monday returned to the first centerwhere he remains hospitalized, while another of the people attacked, aged 66, remains hospitalized in Sagunto.

Three other men, aged 57, 66 and 95, who suffered bruises and trauma, were also treated.
