Fredy Escobar, one of the accused in the attack on the home of octogenarian Pau Rigo in Porreres (Balearic Islands), was arrested for holding, tying up and beating a man for debt. The National Police are looking for three people involved in the event.
According to ‘Última Hora’, Escobar, 32 years old and of Colombian origin, is one of four arrested for beating a man who allegedly kept money that did not belong to him. The suspects met the victim at the occupied home to give him the money he was owed. When he refused, the group beat him. A patrol heard the victim’s cries for help and immediately intervened.
Involved in the trial of the octogenarian from Porreres
The events occurred after the start of the trial of the octogenarian, who killed a thief who entered his house. Precisely, the victim is the brother of Fredy Escobar, who testified during the hearing last Friday, October 9.
Escobar denied that neither he nor his brother hit Pau Rigo before shooting. “At no time were we aggressive with him, hitting him or throwing him to the ground. “He was completely free,” said the man, for whom the public prosecutor is asking for six years in prison for two offenses of theft and injury.
“I don’t come here to say that Pau is a murderer, I have empathy for him, he could be my grandfather. I’m sure he didn’t want what happened to happen. “I am aware that I was a provocateur, I was wrong, but I think this weapon should not have been used,” he said.
