Online education in Azerbaijan is ineffective – EXPERT OPINIONS

As everything has moved to the online platform, we are assisting in the organization of tutor training in this way. Is there any effect of this preparation?

Elchin Murad, an education expert who spoke to Modern.az on the topic, said that today there is a two-pronged approach to the transition to the online system in many areas of society:

“If we start from world experience, the online system is effective both in terms of saving time and density. However, I think that in Azerbaijan this system cannot have a strong effect in the field of education, especially in the student and applicant factor. During the pandemic, we have seen that students or applicants are not able to take advantage of online education. Here are several reasons:

1. The available possibilities are not sufficient for this;

2. The student or applicant is not serious about education;

3. The student or applicant is prevented from having problems with the Internet.”

According to the expert, when it comes to transferring tutoring activities to the online system, the teacher and parents have a great responsibility here:

“The teacher must involve the applicant in the lesson, and parents must strengthen control to ensure this. The current conditions must be created during teaching and the teacher must be able to observe the applicant live. If these aspects are not taken into account, take into account , then it is impossible to achieve great results and success with online education.”

Another education expert, Elnur Aydın, stated that the training of online tutors has increased in recent years:

“Online classes are effective when both the teacher and the student can use the capabilities of online platforms correctly and appropriately. Modern online platforms are not limited to passive listening. Thanks to screen sharing, Online tests, feedback and collaborative work tools, it is possible to conduct interactive classes. If these opportunities are used, the lesson will be effective on online platforms.

E. Aydyn noted that the possibility of teaching classes online provides flexibility in terms of time and place for both students and teachers:

“Teachers can enrich the material using digital resources during online classes. These resources make it easier for students to understand the topics and are suitable for different learning styles. Apply tests, mini-projects or other assessment methods through various tools and online systems to track student progress. It allows both the tutor and parents to monitor the learning process. Both the teacher and the student must have appropriate devices and student motivation at home can be difficult.
