The measure, agreed between the government and the operators, is part of the royal decree approved this Monday by the executive and which includes a new aid program to combat the consequences caused by DANA. Measures which, in total, will cost around 3.765 million euros.
Precisely, during the press conference to present the social shield, the The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, ordered operators, among other providers, to compensate their customers for services they did not receive during the disaster.
Concretely, the measure agreed by telecommunications companies and the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Civil Service provides that operators will automatically compensate all users for interrupted services. without them having to ask.
In this sense, it is expected that those affected will benefit from an economic adjustment that will be at least proportional to when your service was interrupted and this will be reflected on your next invoices.
On each invoice concerned the date, duration of the interruption and the exact calculation of compensation will be clearly reflected correspondent, without requiring any prior request or communication from the subscriber.
Additionally, ongoing contracts, urgent regulations adopted to address DANA and other applicable regulations may include additional measures for the benefit of consumers which go beyond the scope of this automatic compensation.
Agreement
In a press release, the ministry emphasizes that this measure aims to mitigate the consequences of the interruption of the telecommunications service which affected many users due to the widespread damage to infrastructure caused by DANA throughout Spain.
“Floods too caused significant damage to telecommunications networks which made it difficult to maintain the operation of telecommunications services in the affected areas,” he explains.
The Government appreciates the collaboration and efforts of operators telecommunications, who have worked intensively since the start of these rainy episodes to restore services as quickly as possible.
Likewise, the Executive specifies that this initiative may be extended to other measures included in any other emergency regulations applicable for the purposes of the DANA, as well as to additional measures that operators propose in favor of consumers.
