The president of the Japanese opposition party Reiwa Shinsengumi, Taro Yamamoto, was urgently hospitalized on Tuesday morning, a few hours before his planned street speech as part of the electoral campaign for the early parliamentary elections.
“Today, October 15, President Taro Yamamoto was due to give a speech at the south exit of Tokyo Shinjuku Station starting at 10:20 local time (04:20 Moscow time). The event was canceled due to President Yamamoto’s emergency hospitalization.” – the party said in a statement.
On the morning of October 15, the electoral campaign began ahead of the early legislative elections to the lower house of the Japanese Diet, which will be held on October 27. At around 08:30 local time (02:30 Moscow time), the political parties participating in the race began to submit their lists to the Ministry of National Affairs.
According to NHK calculations, 1,108 people will compete in the elections in single-member districts and another 230 people in party lists, when the number of deputies in each district depends on the population.
