He Official State Gazette includes the call for oppositions, in a free round, of the Oviedo City Hall with which it is planned to cover 14 positions of the Fire and Rescue Service (firefighters), in the category of Technical Driver Agent.
What requirements do I have to meet to become a firefighter at Oviedo City Hall?
Candidates who wish to participate in this call must have the functional capacity to perform the assigned functions; prove their physical condition; as well as have the C+E driving license and baccalaureate, Technician or equivalent.

The deadline for submitting applications begins on the day September 18 and ends October 15, 2024.

What will the Oviedo City Council firefighter driver exam be like?
The selection process will be governed by an opposition process, in a free round, which will include four exercises.
First exercise
It will be divided into two parts: fitness tests and work tests.
During the examinations to measure physical capacity, the following exercises will be performed:
- Beam : perform three runs on a bar five meters long and 10 centimeters wide one meter from the ground. The routes will be forward, backward and sideways.
- Long jump: Men must cover a minimum distance of two metres and 40 centimetres and women two metres.
- 200 meter race: Men must do it in 28 seconds and women in 31.
- Smooth rope climb: Men have to climb a height of five meters, while women have to climb four.
- 1500 meter race: Men must do it in at least five minutes and 15 seconds; women in six minutes and 15 seconds.
- 100 meters freestyle swimming: men in 2:01:05 minutes and women in 2:09:05 minutes.
- Immersion test: 10 rings placed in a zigzag pattern must be recovered from the bottom of the pool located 25 meters away in a maximum time of 40 seconds.
On the other hand, in the work tests, mastery of certain tools and tests linked to the service and specific to the positions must be demonstrated:
- Maneuvering tower: Each carrying two 13 kg barrels, the candidates must go up and down four times, over a distance of four floors.
- Shovel: Candidates must transfer 0.6 cubic metres of sand from one container to another, separated by two metres.
- Vertigo: Climbing the Service Vehicle ladder, up to a height of 30 meters and an inclination of 65 degrees in a maximum time of two minutes.
Second exercise
The second test of the opposition will be the knowledge test. It will also be divided into two sections. In the first of them, you must answer in writing a 100-question multiple-choice exam. The second section will include resolve one or more problems in writing related to the subjects of the specific part of the program.
Third exercise
It will be divided into different sections, which will need to be approved to move forward in the process:
- Road test: perform a slalom and park with a car pump.
- Mechanical testing and workshop: It will consist of one or two exercises linked to the mechanical section.
Fourth exercise
As in the previous cases, this exercise will also be divided into two parts.
In the first of these you have to overcome a psychotechnical test, which will determine the candidates’ suitability to perform the duties of the position. And they must also be overcome personality tests, aimed at assessing the most significant personality traits of candidates and relevant to the performance of the duties of the position, as well as their degree of personal and social adaptation.
In the second part you have to overcome a personal interview, in which the most relevant aspects found during the personality test will be explored in depth.
