Orkhan Mammadov: “We will achieve the transformation of small businesses towards the green transition”

“In the framework of COP29, among the member countries, we have signed a document called “Declaration of the Baku Coalition for the green climate transition of SMEs”. The objective is to draw the attention of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs to the issues We also try to support SMEs in green transition issues. Various trainings are carried out here, including the issuance of certificates and the allocation of subsidy projects.

Oku.Az informs that these words were pronounced by the President of the Board of Directors of the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises dependent on the Ministry of Economy during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku. said Orjan Mammadov.

Orkhan Mammadov stated that the Law “On the Development of Entrepreneurship” gives a special place to the issues of green transition and that special privileges will be granted to SMEs that take the lead in these issues.

“In addition, we are trying to promote the ESG (environmental, social and governance) principle among companies. KOBIA plays an active role in creating a national ESG platform in Azerbaijan and its implementation among entrepreneurs. We have already held two major events , presented the ESG platform to entrepreneurs. With this we will achieve the transformation of small businesses to the green transition.”

However, the KOBIA official added that, first of all, large companies should be interested in promoting the green transition and cooperation in this field:

“Let us admit that today it is not realistic for small and micro businesses to actively participate in green transition issues. They are currently busy with their daily concerns. However, both the state and large businesses should help them in these matters.”
