Oscar Lopez to replace Escriva as Minister of Digital Transformation

The current chief of staff of the President of the Government, Oscar Lopezwill be the new minister of Digital transformation and public service after the departure of José Luis Escriva from the Council of Ministers following his appointment as the new governor of the Bank of Spain.

Lopez has been the president’s right-hand man since July 2021, when he replaced Ivan Redondo. Born in 1973, he graduated in political science and has a double major in international studies and public administration from the Complutense University of Madrid.

He was also spokesperson for the socialist group in the Upper House between 2015 and 2016. Between 2018 and 2021, he was president of the Paradoresuntil he was called to replace Iván Redondo as Pedro Sánchez’s chief of staff. In addition, after the last elections, he regained his status as a deputy, this time for Madrid.
