Israel declared ‘graduated’ in raidslimit“, a phrase that was used after the short-lived but bloody “Six-Day War” with Egypt, Jordan and the Palestinians. It also did so several times in Lebanon, such as during the occupation of southern Lebanon, which began in 1982 as an officially “brief” mission and ultimately lasted for years.
Let us not forget that Benjamin Netanyahu’s current war in Gaza also began with “limited raids“, always alleging “surgical” attacks against Hamas infrastructure or terrorist commands. The rest was “collateral damage.”
In Al Rojo Vivo, Ignacio Cembrero recalled that this is the fourth time that Israel has done something like this, and that all of them “ended badly” for them. The other occasions occurred in 1978, 1982 and 2006to which must be added the current one.
Another of these “specific” operations was about to extend the conflict to Egypt: the Rafah offensive. Now, once again, Israel invades Lebanon. Here again, we will see if the powder keg of the Middle East does not end up exploding.
