Azerbaijani judoka Suleyman Shukurov won the bronze medal at the world junior championships held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
Oku.Az reports that the member of the national team rose to third place of honor in the 81 kg weight category.
Suleyman Shukurov started his performance from the second stage and beat Mihaylo Simin (Serbia). Subsequently, he defeated Seung-Min Kim (Korea) and advanced to the quarterfinals. After Shukurov, he faced Joshua De Lange (Netherlands) and was upset by the defeat. Our judoka fought with Muhammad Yusufzoda from Tajikistan for the bronze medal. The match ended with a certain victory for our compatriot. Shukurov thus ascended to the third level of the honorary chair.
