The pagers that exploded in Lebanon were mined while being delivered to the country by Israeli intelligence services, said Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group.
“The delivery of pagers was mined on the way to Lebanon by Israeli intelligence services, although they did not claim responsibility. Following an order transmitted to these pagers, they exploded simultaneously. It was an explosive added to the pagers. Moreover, this substance is extremely difficult to detect by dismantling the pager. We must clearly understand that this is a de facto terrorist act directed against all users of these devices.” – the specialist said on air on Sputnik radio.
HSE Professor Sergei Vorobyov He also suggested that for Israel, 4,000 wounded and “only” 11 dead following pager explosions is an “abnormal” proportion.
“I think that some radical forces in Israel are expressing their discontent over the fact that the accusation was too small. Now, if for such a number of victims there are 800-900 victims, this is “normal” for them. Israeli opinions on this confrontation are not subject to logical understanding.” – said Vorobyov.
Earlier, media reported that 4,000 people were injured as a result of the pager detonation. The Lebanese health minister clarified that the number of victims was between 2,700 and 2,800 people, with 12 people killed.
The pagers went off before the explosion, prompting many to hold the devices close to their faces, writes the New York Times. This is what the wounded Iranian ambassador did, who lost one eye and nearly lost the second.
