Palau de la Música inaugurates more efficient ornamental lighting thanks to an agreement with the Iberdrola Foundation Spain

He Palace of Music has renewed and embellished its nighttime appearance thanks to the premiere of ornamental lighting composed of 155 state-of-the-art LED technology projectors, within the framework of the agreement signed between the Valencia City Council and the Iberdrola Spain Foundation.

The initiative, which is part of Iberdrola’s Illuminations Programme, has enabled investment of around 200,000 euros and allows to accentuate the beauty of the architectural elements of the Valencian auditorium.

The ornamental lighting was designed taking into account the heritage values of the Palau de la Música. The public-private collaboration between the City Council and the Iberdrola España Foundation has not only contributed to giving greater visibility and splendor to the municipal building, but has also allowed a 40% reduction in installed power, going from the 14,750 watts of the previous installation to the 8,521 of the new version. The energy efficiency of municipal buildings is one of the objectives of the government team and is in line with the guidelines outlined in the European Green Capital 2024.

The project stands out for the unique elements that make up the building and its integration into the environment, as well as for the use and care given to the design of the lights, with color temperatures that vary between 3,000 ºK and 4,000 ºK, projecting shadow plays that highlight the volumes of its structure and the particular changes in the layout of the building.

The agreement was signed last March by the mayor of Valencia, Maria José Cataláand the director of the Iberdrola Spain Foundation, Ramón Castresana. This Wednesday, during the opening of the ornamental lighting of the Palau de la Música, María José Catalá highlighted once again the importance of “the inestimable gift that one of the most important companies in Spain is giving us, combining energy efficiency and sustainability with the enhancement of one of the most emblematic buildings of Valencia’s municipal heritage and, in addition, one of the most appreciated by citizens.

For his part, the president of Iberdrola Foundation SpainFernando García, recalled the intense relationship between Iberdrola and Valencia with the Community. Likewise, he highlighted the challenge of lighting one of the most emblematic buildings of Valencians and all citizens.

The premiere of the ornamental lighting of the Palau, which took place this Wednesday from 8:30 p.m., also brought together councilors of the municipal corporation, directors of Iberdrola, as well as representatives of Valencian society and the world of culture.
