Palestinian Authority demands ban on Israeli teams: FIFA makes decision

FIFA has rejected a request by the Palestinian Football Association to exclude Israeli teams from all international tournaments due to the Gaza conflict.

This was reported by Today in Israel.

However, despite this decision, the International Football Federation expressed its willingness to reconsider this issue in October to take into account all the circumstances and possible changes in the situation.

Earlier, Cursor wrote that the Palestinian Football Association appealed to FIFA, making strong accusations against Israel.

Recall that on December 28, after more than 80 days of fighting that caused significant casualties and destruction in Gaza, the leaders of the Palestinian Football Association called on FIFA, the International Olympic Committee and other organizations to investigate Israel for what they believed to be compromised, crimes. They claimed that at least 1,000 athletes were among the dead and missing in Gaza.

In their letter, the Palestinian Arabs outlined their grievances, accusing Israel of turning Gaza’s oldest stadium, Yarmouk, into a detention and interrogation centre where they say innocent people were taken. It is noteworthy that in the letter they tried not to mention the terrorist organisation Hamas. The association also called for sanctions against Israeli sports.
