He Pamplona City Hallthrough its strategic area of government, urban planning, housing and the 2030 Agenda, in collaboration with Historic Center of Pamplona (PCH-IB SA), launched a project competition with the intervention of a jury for the redevelopment of the Santa Ana Square.
The objective is to select innovative proposals that reinforce its heritage and community valueensuring that it remains an inclusive and accessible space for all people in the neighborhood.
This competitionaligned with the principles of sustainability and citizen participation, is part of the Urban Agenda 2030 and the law on the quality of architecture, promoting a co-design process in which the diversity of voices will be taken into account and the needs of the neighborhood.
THE intervention in Plaza Santa Ana Preferably look for a green and safe space that preserves its history and values its role in the daily life of the people who live in it and benefit from it.
THE Santa Ana Square is, since its opening, an oasis in the old town for the community, providing a green and multifunctional refuge in the middle of intense urban activity. With community gardens, spaces for children, gymnastics areas and a place for neighborhood assemblies and festive activities, this space has evolved to become an essential meeting point in the neighborhood.
He new design will seek to preserve and enhance this value, while opening itself to new possibilities that strengthen its green oasis character in one of the neighborhoods with the fewest natural spaces in Pamplona.
Start of the competition phase after a participatory process.
He project competition marks the beginning of a new phase in co-design of the Plaza de Santa Anaafter carrying out a first phase of participation, in which the neighborhood played a key role in defining values, desires and needs in the redesign of the space.
The result of this phase was reflected in a participation report which is included in the annex to the bases of the competition and whose inclusion is part of the jury’s assessment.
After the evaluation of proposals presentedthe jury will select the three which best correspond to the established criteria. Each of the selected proposals will receive a prize of 20,000 euros, in recognition of its quality.
Subsequently, these proposals will be presented during a public event, during which the technical teams will have the opportunity to explain their ideas directly to citizens. This exhibition will mark the beginning of the second phase of participation, a process of contrast where suggestions and contributions will be collected for the final development of the project.
Open participation and requirements
The competition is open to teams of architects, architects and multidisciplinary professionals who meet the technical and professional requirements specified in the bases.
The architectural quality of the proposals and their integration into the urban and cultural environment of the city will be particularly valued. Santa Ana Square.
