An international group of scientists from China and other countries has made a disturbing discovery. They have detected 125 viruses in the carcasses of 461 farm animals from 28 species that died from various diseases, 36 of which were previously unknown to science.
Oku.AzThis was reported by the South China Morning Post based on expert research.
The most surprising thing is reported to be that 39 of the viruses found can be transmitted to other animals and humans, 11 of which have already been previously detected in humans.
According to scientists, the biggest threat is raccoon dogs and otters. It is in their bodies that many viruses are found that are potentially dangerous to humans. Thus, coronavirus HKU5 was found in the bodies of two otters on one of the farms. In addition, for the first time in history, the coronavirus was detected in a beaver.
Scientists have also identified a new type of coronavirus called “rabbit” and have recorded a large number of different types of coronavirus in general. These findings have raised serious concerns among scientists about the possibility of large pandemics.
