Within the framework of the international climate conference COP29, which will last until November 22, events continue in the Green Zone in parallel to the Blue Zone. A joint round table of COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and CISCO was organized in the Green Zone on November 16.
Oku.Az reports that in the round table on “Youth empowerment for the digital climate revolution”, digital solutions in climate action were discussed with special attention to the involvement of young people, who are the driving force of the innovation and change process.
Kestutis Kupshis, Member of the European Economic and Social Committee, a high-level advisory body of the European Union, Leyla Hasanova, COP29 Youth Climate Champion, Marie de Vysotsky, Chief Sustainability Specialist at CISCO, Fidan Javadova, Entrepreneur at clean technologies, and a nature conservationist participated in the roundtable, which was attended by WAFF Youth representative Doreen Michael.
The discussion noted that as digital technologies revolutionize the way we address the climate crisis, young people are emerging as key actors for change, using digital tools to advocate for sustainability, monitor environmental impacts and scale up action. climate. The event showcased advanced digital platforms, applications and AI-based solutions that enable young people to participate in climate initiatives in real time.
In addition, different events are held in the Green Zone at different times of the day. These events covered topics as diverse as progress within the decarbonization commitment, the role of large corporations in ensuring sustainability and promoting these practices, the transformative power of green fintech and climate technology to close the climate finance gap and ensure financial inclusion through digital technologies. At the same time, dances, meditation, interactive and creative workshops were organized in the dynamic “Extreme Hangout” area designed for children and young people.
