Part of the roof of another court in the Plaza de Castilla collapses onto the workers’ posts

The roof of another court in the Plaza de Castilla collapsed this morning in the workers’ stations without causing any injuries, as reported by the STAJ union in a press release.

A few days ago there was a similar incident When the roof of courts 23 and 35 collapsed, water began to flow, until finally four tiles of the false ceiling collapsed onto the workstations.

The union once again complained about the terrible employment situation of workers in “a building whose problems are becoming more and more pressing and where workers suffer the constant deterioration of their facilities every week.”

This morning, according to the STAJ, it was the Court of instruction n°15which joins a long list of courts affected by the deterioration of this judicial infrastructure, where once again, the ceiling on workers’ employment has collapsed.

The STAJ continues to demand that the Community of Madrid guarantee the safety of workers, because in the face of events that continue to repeat themselves over time, it becomes “both the physical integrity of workers and professionals and that of citizens who appear before these courts are seriously threatened”.

The Community of Madrid recalls that 6.5 million euros have been invested since 2017 in the maintenance, improvement and rehabilitation of the building that houses the courts in the Plaza de Castilla, in the capital, “which shows the ‘commitment of the regional government to provide’ professionals and users with modern, efficient and accessible judicial infrastructures in each of the 21 judicial districts of the region.

“In the last few months alone, the regional government has carried out specific works on this property, such as renovating the meeting room or cleaning the facades and windows, as well as signing a new maintenance contract and cleaning, with a larger budget and a new company in charge of this work”, they add.
