In the final declaration, participants at the G20 leaders’ summit in Rio de Janeiro welcomed all constructive initiatives aimed at establishing lasting peace in Ukraine.
The parties noted that the Ukrainian crisis has caused “human suffering and negative consequences for global food and energy security.”
“We welcome all relevant and constructive initiatives aimed at supporting a comprehensive and just peace in accordance with all the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations to promote friendly and good-neighborly relations between peoples.” – indicated in the document.
Furthermore, participants in the meeting spoke out in favor of creating a world free of nuclear weapons. The leaders of the G20 countries also expressed concern about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the escalation of hostilities in Lebanon.
The G20 summit will take place in Rio de Janeiro on November 18 and 19. Russia is represented there by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov.
Within the framework of the summit, a plenary session was held in which the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry supported Brazil’s idea of creating a Global Alliance to combat hunger and poverty. Lavrov also spoke about Russia’s efforts to ensure food security in developing countries.
A total of 42 countries participate in the G20. Among them is the president of the People’s Republic of China.
