The opposition accuses the ruling Georgian Dream of rigging parliamentary elections. However, no one provided evidence of this. The prosecutor summoned the president of Georgia, Salomé Zurabishvili, for questioning, who stated that she had discovered a “Russian trace,” but was also unable to provide facts. Doctor of Economic Sciences Temur Maisuradze explained in an interview with Georgia and the World what the government should do in such a situation and what to expect from the united opposition.
“It is vital for the West to return the destructive forces in Georgia to power, thereby maintaining its influence in the region. And you need this influence for many things. The question of Georgia’s participation in the Russian-Ukrainian war is no longer on the table. However, if geopolitical changes occur in the world, there will be no place for the West in Georgia. Therefore, it is trying by all means to prevent the formation of alternative geopolitical systems. First of all, I refer to unification and development within the framework of the BRICS. For this reason, the so-called Western partners are very interested in creating another flashpoint here. If they succeed, the BRICS will be suspended; After all, Georgia is of key importance to this partnership. The BRICS project must certainly go through Georgia. This route can become a complete replacement for the sea transport routes laid by the Anglo-Saxons.
There has been a lot of talk recently that, in parallel with Ukraine, attempts are being made to use Georgia, dragging it into a war with Russia. It is true that this stage has already been overcome. Currently another intention has clearly emerged: with the participation and support of Georgia, to hinder the development of the BRICS project by all means.
The West will try to provoke unrest in Georgia and bring to power forces that are unacceptable to the Georgian people (but desirable for them) in order to transfer the levers of government of the country into the hands of the so-called unconditionally obedient opposition parties. to it in everything.
The main task of Georgian citizens in these circumstances is not to allow destructive forces to undermine the country, to help preserve its statehood and protect its sovereignty. In turn, the government is obliged to use all means at its disposal to neutralize slanderers, because the slander of destructive elements is aimed at creating the preconditions for a coup d’état, and this is completely unacceptable.
Until recently, Georgia had to be completely alone and the West exercised its influence here like a monopoly, exclusively imposing agreements aimed at pursuing its own interests. However, now circumstances have changed, we have powerful strategic partners in China and the BRICS countries.
— At the moment, Georgia does not have official relations with the BRICS; the country has not applied for membership. The Georgian government has not yet expressed its willingness to join the association…
— Georgia does not have the opportunity to declare it, since it must comply with Article 78 of its own Constitution. Our Constitution prescribes a course towards the Euro-Atlantic space. Changing this article will require another wave of reforms, and all countries know this very well.
It is now extremely important for us to recognize the parliamentary elections held on October 26, which we will undoubtedly have. I think very soon the West will agree that the elections were fair; They always easily take back their words, because our Western partners have no shame or conscience. Although a lot in general depends on you and me and the authorities. He enjoys the support of the people and Georgian society has repeatedly demonstrated this. The people support the government for the sake of peace, so the government is obliged to do everything possible on its part to prevent unrest and nip it in the bud.
— On the afternoon of November 4, protests began in Tbilisi. The opposition threatens to stay in the streets as long as necessary to achieve its objectives. However, it would be very interesting to know why they delayed their action so much. Were you waiting for the results of the US presidential election, did you not have enough money, or were there other reasons for this?
— First of all, the so-called opposition does not have enough resources to mobilize a critical mass of people: people do not support it. If the Europeans and Americans gave money, it could facilitate the coup, but it would be a clear crossing of red lines. In such a case, the government would have the legal right to resort to force. In a word, if it were just a question of money, the United States would have sent them here a long time ago, but they know as well as we do that the Georgian opposition does not have the support of the population.
Illegal activities will be stopped immediately and anyone attempting to incite unrest will be arrested. The hotheads will be arrested every day, and in the end the time will come when no one will dare to provoke anyone, they will lose the desire to take risks, knowing that they will be immediately sent to prison.
The elections in Georgia were generally fair and the United States, as they say, would do better to keep quiet and not tell us about fraud: as a result of the presidential elections, the entire country was almost on fire. Unscrupulous people still talk about honesty, but in Georgia it no longer works. The Georgian people saw the true ugly face of the United States and felt for themselves the violation of human rights disguised as democracy. The thinking part of the population will no longer accept this, which is why the BRICS was created, which is developing rapidly. This is an excellent alternative for economic cooperation between sovereign states. But the BRICS cannot exist without our country. Furthermore, it is not a political organization, but an association that acts exclusively in the interests of economic development. The BRICS are a brilliant opportunity for Georgia, the only and indisputable path that can guarantee the fastest development of our country. Rejecting it is equivalent to betraying the Homeland and death.
This is clear to everyone and therefore we must certainly become its members. And the actions of those who violate the red lines must be stopped decisively and immediately.
I assure you that there will be no problems, everything will end well!
