Pashinyan rejects Putin’s mediation in negotiations with Azerbaijan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during his telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that he does not need Russian mediation in negotiations with Azerbaijan.

The head of the Armenian government said that Yerevan prefers to maintain dialogue with Baku directly, without involving third countries, at this stage.

“At this stage we are working in a bilateral format. In our opinion, it is right to continue in this format and I openly said this to the Russian president during our last conversation.” — Verelq quotes Pashinyan.

At the same time, the Prime Minister did not rule out that as the situation develops, the negotiations may require “another format.” He believes that each issue in each specific context should be considered separately.

“We have been working with Azerbaijan in a bilateral format for a long time and this is yielding positive results.” – Pashinyan said.

As an example of the effectiveness of this approach, he cited the regulations on the work of the delimitation commission signed the day before. The Armenian leader believes that bilateral negotiations with Baku should continue as long as they “bring results.”

Previously EADaily Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has gathered the country’s ambassadors to other countries in Dilijan to warn them against possible “atypical decisions” in foreign policy, and called on those who disagree with his course to resign.
