An EasyJet passenger caused a serious incident on board an Airbus A320 flying from Gatwick Airport to Greece during severe turbulence. According to The Sun, a man, allegedly drunk, tried to break into the cockpit at an altitude of about 9,000 metres. He insulted the plane’s captain, calling him a nobody and argued that he himself could do a better job of piloting the plane.
When the attempt to enter the cabin was unsuccessful, the intruder headed to the emergency exit door and tried to open it. The plane’s crew responded quickly, fighting with the passenger to stop him.
Following the incident, the captain decided to make an emergency landing at Munich Airport, where the passenger was arrested by local police to the applause of fellow passengers. EasyJet later issued a statement confirming that passenger safety is its priority and that it takes incidents like this very seriously, although they are extremely rare.
One of the passengers was excited about the incident, saying that his parents were very scared and still have not recovered from the shock. In general, all those involved in the incident expressed relief that the incident ended without any casualties.
