Past and present of the Atlético de Madrid ultras: murders, threats and attacks during training

The sector of Civitas Metropolitan Stadium where the ultra group of Atlético de Madrid is located, the Athletic foreheadplayed during the last Madrid derby in a Dantesque image which takes you back to the 80s and 90s. In the 69th minute, after Militao had scored 0-1 and after having desired death to Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, he turned to the stands to celebrate his team’s goal. At that moment, the madmen came into action with a shower of objects which caused the game to stop.

Looking at the images, we can see how one of the radicals, who comes to jump on the ground, goes covered with a hood which features a screen-printed image called “Totenkopf”, or what amounts to the same thing, the insignia of the SS of the Nazi army. Additionally, you may see a banner stating ‘1982’, year of creation of the groupas well as their symbols and anagrams on the flags.

Front Atlético, although still present in the Colchonero stadium, should have been expelled 10 years agoafter the pitched battle of Madrid Río which ended the life of “Jimmy”, another radical follower of Deportivo de la Coruña. This is not the only murder they carry behind them, on December 8, 1998, after an Atlético de Madrid-Real Sociedad match, ultra colchonero Ricardo Guerra was fatally stabbed. Aitor Zabaleta only 28 years old. The war was sentenced to 17 years in prison.

But to his credit, there are not only attacks against members of other teams. In 2005, and with complete impunity, They attacked the team’s training to reproach him for his poor results: “Do you think this is the way you played with all the Atleti fans?”

Nearly 20 years later, we see him again to the players and ultras who speak and negotiate when in theory they should have been out of the stadium for years. But, far from it, we see them active on social networks. Organization of receptions, sell t-shirts with his name on them and symbology and even publishing its own magazine.
