After the concerts of pop, singing and rap stars, for which we recommended, in a previous list, to act quickly to reserve seats, here is a selection of classical music, jazz and so-called world music.
Musica festival switches to Dutch time
Emblematic of the European dimension of Strasbourg, the city that has hosted it since its origin in 1983, the Musica festival has traditionally been closer to Germany. This year it will expand its horizons to the Netherlands by inviting prestigious ensembles (Asko, Schönberg, Klang) and programming, on its opening night, the historic Of State (1972) by Louis Andriessen, a leading figure of minimalism. Dutch dominance will allow Musica to bring contemporary music and nightclubs organizing Rewire, the festival “electro” The Hague. However, the geographical – or even national – anchorage, since the 2024 edition of Musica is intended to be political – will not prevent the festival from showing its support for extraordinary creators, such as Jennifer Walshe (performance), Benjamin Dupé (associated with a neuroscience expert), Benjamín de la Fuente and Samuel Sighicelli (within the Caravaggio group confronted with the Percussions de Strasbourg). Without forgetting François Sarhan, a multidisciplinary creator who appears to be a bit of the common thread (exhibition, musical theatre, concert) of Musica 2024. P.Gi.

A Night of Griots to celebrate the music of Mali
Last places available for La Nuit des griots, the first major concert (20 September, 8pm, 42 euros) offered by the Philharmonie de Paris as part of its cycle dedicated to Mali. The musical director for this evening will be Ballaké Sissoko, master of the kora, a traditional instrument emblematic of West Africa and of the griots, the caste of musicians, singers and bearers of memory to which he belongs. He has gathered around him numerous Malian musicians (Ballaké Sissoko Orkestra, Badjé Tounkara – N’goni lute player), from Guinea and Ghana – including the singer and musician Osei Korankye. The Malian actor Habib Dembélé will masterfully take on the role of epic narrator.
After a day dedicated to instrumental practice workshops on Saturday, the following day, Sunday 22 (at 8 pm), the radiant Malian singer, guitarist and composer Fatoumata Diawara will present, accompanied by the Ostinato orchestra, the repertoire from her album. maliba (2022). P.La.
