Pedro Martínez succeeds David Ferrer and becomes the last Valencian to win the Marcos Automoción Faulcombridge Cup

The Faulcombridge Cup by Marcos Automoción concluded with a END to which the favorite to lift the Cup, Pedro Martínez, current second best tennis player in the Spanish ranking (only behind Carlos Alcaraz) and first seed in the tournament, managed to reach without having given up a set along the way.

To try to sweeten the afternoon for Spanish, Jaime Fariaa 21-year-old Portuguese, faced the fight for the title with great confidence. On Saturday, after beating Moreno de Alborán in the third set tie-break, he said in the post-match interview: “I feel like it’s my tournament“I’m in a good place now, with a lot of confidence.”

At 5:00 p.m. the meeting began. In the first set, the Spaniard put a lot of pressure on the Portuguese’s serve. Pedro made two consecutive breaks, going 4-0 in just 20 minutes. Faria accused the nerves play the most important final of his professional career. Many unforced errors from Jaime eventually led to a clear 6-1 for the Alzira man.

At the start of the second set, Faria raised the level, but another break from the Valencian ended up completely shattering his confidence. Once again, Pedro showed his varied game, mixing runs to the net and shots on the ground, attacking with great parallels and, at the same time, perfectly defending the few attacks that the Portuguese was able to achieve. The difference in ranking between the two players remained latent. Ultimately, Martínez managed to close the match 6-3, thus winning a qualification very special in its country.
