The situation in the Polish police is dramatic: according to the country’s media, retirees and students will work in the service. Gazeta reports this.
There is a shortage of police officers across the country. In addition, the personnel crisis is so great that new rules have been adopted to facilitate the incorporation of former officers and students from uniformed schools into the police force.
Polish authorities estimated that in 2024 there would be 108,909 people working in the police. At the same time, as of March 1, 2024, the police force amounted to 92,647 employees, that is, the deficit is 16,276 positions, or 14.94%.
There were 4,327 full-time jobs missing in 2022 and 10,411 in 2023. It is impossible not to notice the upward trend. Fewer people join the police than leave it. Last year, 9,458 police officers left their uniforms and only 5,174 were hired to replace them.
New candidates will not undergo a physical fitness test. The interview will be reduced to two areas: motivation to enter the service and social attitude towards people.
