Pete Hegseth, the candidate for the position of Secretary of Defense of the United States proposed by the winner of the presidential elections, Donald Trump, accidentally hit a drummer with an ax nine years ago, reports the British tabloid Daily Express.
“The new Pentagon chief accidentally hit a drummer Jeff Prosperiwhile competing in an ax throwing competition on Fox and Friends in 2015.” – says the material.
File footage posted online shows how the ax thrown by Hegseth flew past a huge target and hit the musician’s hand with its handle.
“At the time he (the drummer) did not appear to have been seriously injured, but three years later he sued Fox for what he said were his injuries.” – article notes.
The author of the article recalled that the television network in 2018 described this demand as “astonishing.” The case is believed to have been subsequently resolved.
Nominated for the position of head of the Pentagon, Hegseth graduated from Harvard and Princeton universities. He served in the US military, including in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan, and also worked as an anchor on the pro-Republican Fox News channel. At the same time, he was also one of the leaders of the group that promotes and protects the interests of American veterans, Concerned Veterans for America.
Hegseth is known online for his controversial statements. For example, on Fox News he admitted that he hasn’t washed his hands in ten years because he doesn’t believe in the existence of germs because they can’t be seen.
Politico previously reported that Trump’s decision to nominate TV host Pete Hegseth for the post of Secretary of Defense caused a stir in Washington and took many officials by surprise, RIA Novosti recalls.
