People affected by DANA in Valencia will not have to pay water and waste fees

New help for people affected by DANA in the province of Valencia. The Generalitat will subsidize the collection of water and waste that it manages directly to all citizens affected by the floods.

This was agreed after the meeting of the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (CECOPI), which unanimously agreed to request the suspension of all these charges managed by the various administrations and operating companies.

The Metropolitan Waste Treatment Entity (EMTRE) and the Public Water Sanitation Establishment of the Valencian Community (EPSAR) have already started managing the works to carry out this measure in collaboration with the staff of the Department of the Environment , Infrastructure and Territory.

In this sense, it should be remembered that the EMTRE approved at its general meeting held in mid-October an increase of 23% on average for the year 2025 in the “Tamer rate”. This tax, which citizens pay on their water bill, taxes the provision of the metropolitan service for the treatment and elimination of urban waste. On the other hand, the Valencia City Hall has also given the green light At garbage rate “tax” precisely Tuesday October 29, the day DANA devastated the province. Families will pay up to 272 euros per year per accommodation for this tax.

The official bonus for these charges will materialize in a decree which will be approved in the coming days. On the other hand, the Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism has contacted electricity and gas supply companies to interrupt or reduce the collection of these bills.

Direct aid from the Generalitat

This Tuesday, the Generalitat also opened the deadline so that all people who lost essential goods and effects due to the storm could request a direct subsidy of 6,000 euros per accommodation.

The request can be submitted until December 16 in person to the post-emergency coordination offices created by the regional executive or to the authorized offices preferably in the locality where the outbreak is located. It can also be processed through the Generalitat Valenciana website.

Individuals who own accommodation located in one of the municipalities affected by the storm and whose contents have been seriously damaged can be beneficiaries. Only one request for assistance per accommodation can be submitted. and will be compatible with the aid announced by the Spanish government.
