People in Beirut are afraid to rejoice over Nasrallah’s death – Bild

Beirut is wary of public expressions of joy over the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The Israeli army killed Nasrallah and the IDF continues to attack militant positions in Lebanon, including the capital. BILD deputy editor-in-chief Paul Ronzheimer, who has been on site since Friday, noted that people’s opinions were divided.

There is a clear division among Lebanese, he said, with some expressing sadness over Nasrallah’s death and feeling a connection to him, while others feel joy but are afraid to show it openly.

Ronzheimer shared that the mood in Lebanon is very complex. He noticed that some people were crying in the streets, while others hoped for change but were hesitant to show their emotions for fear of repercussions.

In conversations with locals, when the topic of Hezbollah came up, they looked around, worried that someone might overhear them, and quietly expressed their hope for change. At the same time, Ronzheimer also emphasized that discontent with Israel’s actions is growing and that the intensification of attacks is having a serious impact on life in Beirut, leaving many people homeless.

Previously, Kursor reported that Hezbollah supporters were leaving Lebanon en masse after the liquidation of Nasrallah.

Furthermore, we recently wrote that after the death of the leader of the Lebanese terrorist group, social media users are actively discussing and creating memes that reflect this historical moment.
