“American and European leaders promised to declare a ceasefire in Gaza if Iran did not respond to the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, but they failed to deliver.”
Oku.AzAccording to the “Anadolu” agency, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke these words during his speech at the Council of Ministers meeting held last night.
He also said that Israel’s actions will not go unanswered.
“The claims by the leaders of the United States and European countries, that they promised a ceasefire in exchange for Iran not responding to the assassination attempt on Haniyeh, were completely false,” Pezeshkian said.
The Iranian president’s statements caused controversy in the country, and even a group gathered at night in front of the building of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran demanded that the authorities respond to these statements.
It should be remembered that Iran decided to take retaliatory measures against Israel after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Hamas political bureau, in Tehran on July 31. At the time, accusations were made that Tehran would give up its intention to attack in exchange for a permanent cessation of Israeli attacks on Gaza.
